Eligibility and account
You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these terms. Give accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials, and use only your own account.
You may use OU through iOS, the official Telegram bot, or its Mini App. Linking Telegram is explicit. OU rejects conflicting identity claims and will not silently merge two accounts. You may disconnect Telegram only while another sign-in method remains.
We may ask you to confirm information needed for safety or eligibility, but the service does not perform identity-document verification or background checks.
What the service does
Online, Unfortunately helps adults discover people through memes. Dating may be one outcome. Friendship or conversation may be another. We do not guarantee a reveal, conversation, date, compatibility, or another member’s conduct.
Discovery begins without profile identity. Recurring creators may carry a presence mark private to that pair. The service evaluates evidence in both directions and may reveal both profiles automatically. It does not publish Keeps, evidence, confidence, popularity, or compatibility scores, and no fixed number of Keeps guarantees reveal.
After reveal, either person may choose Say hi. The choice is hidden from the other person and may be withdrawn until both people choose it. Two active choices open the pair’s one private chat. Either person may end the relationship or block the other account.
Common ground may appear after reveal only when enough approved canonical media was independently kept or published by both people. It does not expose an action trail. Meme messages may reference a member’s private Kept media, their Published media, or an approved publication visible in the revealed relationship.
Invitation links attribute acquisition and activation only. They do not follow the inviter, reveal either profile, create a relationship, guarantee an encounter, or change discovery ordering.
A Keep, reveal, Say hi choice, message, profile view, or meeting is not consent to sexual activity, off-platform contact, or any other interaction. Consent must be specific, mutual, informed, and ongoing.
Your content
You keep the rights you hold in content you submit. You give Online, Unfortunately a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, adapt for technical delivery, moderate, and display that content as needed to operate and protect the service.
This license ends when the content or account is deleted, except for limited safety records, backups awaiting expiry, and material the law requires us to keep.
You must have the right to submit your content. Do not upload private material without permission, infringing material, or content that violates these terms or the Community Rules. Optional titles and descriptions do not reduce your responsibility for the media itself.
OU may recognize exact or likely duplicate media as one canonical object while keeping each member’s publication, caption, moderation state, and responsibility separate.
Prohibited use
- Access by minors or attempts to contact or exploit minors.
- Harassment, hate, threats, stalking, coercion, or non-consensual intimate material.
- Impersonation, scams, spam, deceptive solicitation, or manipulation of discovery.
- Publishing another person’s private or identifying information without permission.
- Illegal goods, unlawful conduct, credible threats of harm, malware, or security attacks.
- Scraping, automated account creation, reverse engineering of private systems, evasion of limits, or exposing another member’s private Keeps, presence marks, relationship state, or messages.
Moderation, reports, and blocks
Eligible posts usually appear immediately without moderator approval. Reports, automated safety signals, repeated removals, or a moderator may quarantine or remove a post. We may limit distribution, suspend an account, preserve relevant safety records, or report credible harm or unlawful conduct when appropriate. Appeals may be sent to support@ou.app.
Members can report posts, revealed profiles, and messages in the app. Blocking immediately removes both accounts from discovery, relationships, chat, notifications, and new media authorization. Media already delivered to a device cannot be recalled. Do not use reports or blocks to harass someone or interfere with legitimate moderation.
Privacy and notifications
Our Privacy Policy describes the information we process. The service has no public Keeps, people search, followers, popularity scores, or advertising. Pairwise evidence and pending Say hi choices are private.
Notifications are optional and may cover a person becoming visible, an opened chat, an unread message, a post review result, or an authorized moderation queue. APNs lock-screen text stays generic. A private Telegram bot notification may include a revealed OU display name and a short message preview. You can disable APNs and Telegram independently or stop Telegram notifications with /stop.
Meeting and personal safety
Use judgment before sharing personal information or meeting someone. Tell a trusted person, meet in a public place, arrange your own transport, and leave if you feel unsafe.
Online, Unfortunately is not an emergency service. Contact local emergency services when someone is in immediate danger.
Availability and changes
The service may contain defects, change, or become unavailable. We may change features or these terms to improve the product, protect members, or meet legal obligations. Material changes will be published with a new effective date.
Disclaimers and limits
To the extent allowed by law, the service is provided as available, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular outcome. We do not control or endorse member conduct or user-generated content.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Ending use
You may pause discovery, remove posts, end a relationship, sign out, or delete your account in the app. We may restrict or end access for a rule violation, credible risk, legal requirement, or discontinuation of the service.
Terms concerning content responsibility, safety records, disputes, and limits that logically survive termination continue to apply.
